Be vigilant. Stay safe. And if you see something, say something.

This video is from the Brussel’s airport. In a split second the passengers go from normal to yelling for the army. Terrorists know that maximum harm is caused by affecting our behavior. This event will cause a massive examination of airport security and will doubtless lead to even more measures being implemented. We’ll probably only admit passengers to airports, or we’ll be screened outside. Whatever they come up with it will be draconian and it will cause a great deal of grief to ordinary people. So please, be vigilant. Take care out there.

Tiny SquirrelThe Squirrel says: We careful out there. Terrorists and religious extremists are great copycats. And we don’t yet know if this is globally coordinated attack.  Keep your eyes open for potential threats. Watch for unattended bags, old trucks parked in strange places, people who are over-dressed for the weather, looking sweaty and stressed, and are glassy-eyed. Explosives smell. Use all your senses. And remember, the government is pushing for extra surveillance of regular citizens, online and IRL. Watch for erosions of your 4th Amendment rights, but don’t be dumb and give them cause by ranting online.

Here’s the  “If You See Something, Say Something” video put out by Homeland Security. It’s predictably anodyne but contains some valid preparation advice. And you really must speak out if you see something.
