ATF was keeping its powder dry – New White Paper recommends sweeping changes

atf-logoATF is the only Federal law enforcement agency with a primary mission that directly involves an Amendment to the United States Constitution. And under the Obama Administration it was hamstrung when it came to addressing a number of antiquated rules concerning buying curios, outlawing suppressors, the stabilizing brace, the importation of modern sporting rifles, etc.

In this “white paper” [titled “Options to Reduce or Modify Firearms Regulations,” reproduced below] by Ronald B. Turk, Associate Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer of the ATF, calls for a radical simplification of many outstanding grey areas, backing up his points with evidence and commonsense. It’s a short read at just 11 pages but it tackles some of the biggest thorns in gun owners and collectors’ sides.
